How to Apply to the Environmental Science Program

Registering for 2023

The Environmental Science Program is open to students who will be entering grades 7, 8, 9, or 10 in September 2023.

 
This year, ALL registration will be through the website of the Parks, Recreation, and Culture Department of Newton. Click here to access the website.
Under the "Summer Camps" heading, click on "Environmental Science Program of Newton."

In order for your student to participate in the Program, you must also provide the following forms AND a doctor's exam sheet (dated within past 2 years):

1. Consent Form/Release from Liability (1 page);
2. Photo/Video Release Form (1 page);
3. Immunization Record (Staff & Students under 18) + Special Activities Permission Form (3 pages); and
4. Authorization to Administer Medication to a Camper Form (1 page).

You will be able to download health and medical forms from the Parks, Recreation, and Culture  website.

Note also that as we learn more about the management of the COVID-19 pandemic, there may be additional requirements for your child to participate in the Program. We will communicate about these requirements as soon as possible.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is available in the form of partial scholarships donated by the Newton Conservators, Inc., Green Newton, and other organizations and individuals (see our Supporters Page). Aid will be awarded based on need and availability. This program must comply with the regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and be licensed by the City of Newton Health Department. Parents or guardians have the right to review background checks of all leaders and staff, as required by applicable law. Contact Human Resources Department, City of Newton, 617-796-1260.
