Our Supporters
Each year, we find individuals and organizations willing to support the Program so that it can continue to deliver the great experience it has for all our students. Please take a moment to see who helps us, and learn about our special campaigns.
If you would like to support the Environmental Science Program, or would just like to learn more about us, please go to our "How to Help" page.
2011 - 2012
For 2012, the Program has received generous funding again from Beth Holmberg and Sarah Elkind that will allow us to train this year's leaders in important wilderness first aid and related skills. The Program is very grateful for this support!
We also want to acknowledge the growing support for our new season:
2010 - 2011
Thanks again for the support we received last year:
2009 - 2010
The Environmental Science Program received a generous donation from Beth Holmberg and Sarah Elkind for support of leader training. This will allow the Program to give next year's leaders specialized training in wilderness first aid, which will be outstandingly useful in all our outdoor activities. The Program appreciates this support very much.
The Program received a special donation in the memory of Matthew Holland, a former Envi-Sci student who passed away January 31, 2010 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This donation comes from Garen Corbett who has supported the Program previously, and is a former student and Envi Sci leader himself.
Garen knew Matthew and his family when Matthew was a young student, and would like to commemorate this special young man. Matt's parents, Meg and Bill Holland, have sent the following message:
"Matt was happiest when he acted in service to others - City Year, AMC trail crew, LowerNine.Org, distributing food through Fair Foods in Dorchester. Please extend his energy into the world by performing community service / social justice work in his memory in whatever way is right for you, or make a donation to support such work. Send us a card (223 Webster Street, West Newton, MA, USA) telling us what you have done. We will collect your cards to put in Matt's Book (www.mattsbook.org)."
The Envi Sci Program would also like to recognize the support we have received this year from the following individuals or groups:
2008 - 2009
- The Newton Conservators deserve a special thanks not only for their generous annual donation to the scholarship fund, but also for their contribution of a video camcorder to help the Program document its activities, and their members' work on the production of the television show about the Program.

Our 40th Annniversary Connection
2007 was the Program's 40th year, and we began a special ongoing effort to locate and reconnect with students, leaders, and families that were involved with the Program over the years. If you can help us locate people who participated in the past, please contact us by phone (617-969-0288), email ( contact@newtonenvisci.org ), or letter.

Carol Lee Corbett Scholarship Fund We received a special contribution in 2007 of a full scholarship from Mr. Garen Corbett in memory of his mother, Carol, who passed away in 2006.
Carol was a member of the Newton Conservators, and an avid supporter of the Environmental Science Program for many years. Garen was a student in the Program, and a Leader for several years as well. We are very grateful to Garen for his support.
In 2008, we received a special contribution from the Newton Conservators to a scholarship in Carol Corbett's memory. We deeply appreciate their generous support of the program.
If you would like to add your own support to the Carol Lee Corbett fund, please contact us to let us know how you would like to help. Donations of any size make a real difference!
